Technology Tips

What about Wi-Fi?

Some families do not have access to Wi-Fi or data plans in order to use websites and resources for school. Consider offering free Wi-Fi on the school campus at drop-off and pick-up times so family members can access sites and stay informed. Families could also take care of other important tasks that require internet access such as sending and receiving emails, paying bills, searching for jobs, etc.

Ways to Support Families with Technology

Provide tablets or computers for family members to use before and after school in your technology lab or at the drop-off area, as well as expert advice from a staff member.

Offer workshops to familiarize parents and caregivers with the websites students will be utilizing at school and at home.

Designate time for "Appy" Hour or Tech Support for families during the week, when staff members can assist families with technology or answer questions.

We need to meet families where they are. For many families that is leveraging mobile devices to foster connection and relationships.
